Families caring for a loved one with DD at home sometimes have unique needs. Family Directed Services (FDS) is a small amount of County Board funds that is set aside to help.

Because funds are limited, FDS is available on a first come, first served basis and an annual per family maximum award has been established.  Also, all other funding sources must be tried first before requesting FDS funds.

There is no application form or income limitation for FDS.  However, families need to have a Early Childhood Intervention Specialist (EIS), or a Service and Support Administrator (SSA), in order to access the program. These members of SCBDD’s staff will assist families in assessing needs and determining available resources which best meet those needs.
