New Video Spotlights Importance of Community Employment Program

The transition period from school to work can be a difficult one, not just for an individual with developmental disabilities but also for the family or caregivers who love them. The Community Employment Program provides supports such as job coaches, transportation, skill building, and job matching to help smooth the way. The Community Employment Program is available to individuals eligible for services from the SCBDD.

“I believe that meaningful competitive employment is a surefire way people obtain a better quality of life,” said SCBDD Superintendent Julie Monroe. “I am proud that our program has set the bar high and consistently helps those we serve reach their dreams.”

Featured in the video are Daniel Whitaker and his mother, Kim Miller. Whitaker works as Office Support for Scioto County Common Pleas Domestic Relations Judge Jerry Buckler. Also featured are Scioto County Deputy Treasurer Robert McGlone and his mother, Diane Adams. McGlone works for Scioto County Treasurer Bill Ogg.

The video can be viewed at the SCBDD website, SciotoCountyDD.org, the agency’s YouTube channel, or the agency’s Facebook page.
