Carousel Center Integration Activity Benefits Children

With a theme of autumn and agriculture, the Carousel Center preschool joined forces with A Children’s Place daycare recently to create a fun motor lab for the children they serve.

While the children learned such things as how to make butter, milk a cow, and use a paint table, one of the underlying benefits of the activity was integration. Preschool teacher Teresa Franz said having a daycare with typically developing children so close is a convenient tool for the teachers at both the Carousel Center and A Children’s Place. As the children play with each other, they learn about what they have in common. They also observe each other and learn different methods of doing things such as handling objects or creating artwork, all while having fun.

Motor labs are geared toward hands-on learning and real-life skills, and is a practice that is helpful for children at all developmental stages.
