COVID NOTIFICATIONS

5/24/21
- We were informed on 5/21 that an employee for SCDD/Vern Riffe School has tested positive for COVID-19. Appropriate measures have been taken.

3/5/2021
- Six students at Vern Riffe School and two staff members were exposed to an individual who had direct contact with someone who tested positive for COVID. All appropriate cleaning and sanitization has been done and the individuals have begun their quarantine period as per CDC and local health department rules.

- A student at Vern Riffe School has tested positive for COVID. All appropriate cleaning and sanitization has been done and the student is has begun their quarantine period as per CDC and local health department rules.

- Two staff members have had direct contact with a student who tested positive for COVID. All appropriate cleaning and sanitization has been done and the student is has begun their quarantine period as per CDC and local health department rules.

Whenever a person has a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 case, they must quarantine per the CDC and local health department guidelines and may not return until they meet the CDC's criteria for returning to work.

As a precaution, we encourage you to monitor your health, follow CDC guidelines, and contact your doctor if you develop COVID-19 symptoms.

A staff member in SCDD’s maintenance department has reported being in direct contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Steps are being taken to ensure that affected areas are sanitized thoroughly. Due to privacy laws, we cannot disclose further information about the employees.

Three staff members both work at the Vern Riffe School building; two in the school and one in the Service & Support Administration department. Due to privacy laws, we cannot disclose further information about the employee. The employee does not work in Vern Riffe School, but their job is based on the administration floor at the building. Whenever a person has a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 case, they must quarantine per the CDC and local health department guidelines and may not return until they meet the CDC's criteria for returning to work.

One employee of Vern Riffe School has tested positive for COVID-19.

Due to privacy laws, we cannot disclose further information about the employee. Whenever a person has a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 case, they must quarantine per the CDC and local health department guidelines and may not return until they meet the CDC's criteria for returning to school.

The local health department has been notified of this situation. We are asking the health department to assist in conducting contact tracing to identify individuals who had close contact with the employee who tested positive. If your child had close contact with the employee, you will be contacted by the health department and/or VRS and provided instructions for self-care and any necessary quarantine period.

Based on guidance from the health department and other agencies, the involved classroom has been deeply sanitized and it has been closed. SCDD and VRS employees and students should continue to follow CDC guidelines and recommendations, and should continue to practice social distancing.

Based on the information we have received, the end of the 14-day incubation period for anyone possibly exposed to the employee at VRS is Oct. 3.
