SCDD Honors DSPs With Appreciation Celebration
DSP Celebration 2024
On September 11, 2024, Scioto County Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) paid special tribute to the dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in celebration of DSP Appreciation Week. This event was thoughtfully aligned with the National Day of Service, observed on September 11th, to honor those who serve on the frontlines of community care.

Direct Support Professionals are essential individuals who provide critical support to people with developmental disabilities, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives. Their roles encompass a range of responsibilities, from assisting with daily living activities to fostering independence and inclusion within the community. DSPs play a crucial role in helping individuals achieve personal goals, ensuring their well-being, and enhancing their quality of life.

To express gratitude for their unwavering commitment, SCDD organized a special event for DSPs across Scioto County. The evening featured an outdoor dinner catered by The Scioto Ribber of Portsmouth, Ohio. Attendees were also treated to a refreshing dessert from The Cool Bus, adding a sweet touch to the occasion.

SCDD Provider Liaison, Kristi Cyrus, was thrilled to be hosting the event, and has already started planning next year's DSP celebration of appreciation. When asked about her thoughts on the event, Cyrus stated, "I am so excited about the turn out and hope to increase the attendance each year. DSPs help improve the life of others everyday and I am proud that I get to help support them and celebrate all their hard work."

This celebration underscored the immense value of Direct Support Professionals and their vital contributions to the community. By coming together to acknowledge their hard work and dedication, SCDD highlighted the importance of these unsung heroes who make a significant impact in the lives of those they support.
